Shenzhen Metro in China is expected to achieve face recognition payment

According to the south China morning post in Hong Kong, passengers will soon be able to make payments on Chinese subways using a face-recognition system.

In China, which is a world leader in mobile payments based on smartphones, plans are under way to provide passengers with face recognition systems to cover metro costs.

Shenzhen Metro operators from China are testing a variety of advanced technologies supported by ultra-fast 5G networks, including face recognition ticketing systems.

At Futian station in Shenzhen, passengers can “swipe their faces” in front of tablets at the entrance or scan a QR code on their smartphones to automatically deduct subway fares from their accounts.

At present, Shenzhen metro operator did not disclose when to start face recognition system payment service details.
